At Coffee IT, collaboration is of the utmost importance. As we work in sprints, you’ll have the opportunity to provide input on the design during retrospectives (and in between them too). Our designers take the lead on this, but are happy to listen to your views.
Usability testing is carried out using prototypes. Even before (part of) the app enters the development phase, we examine how the app’s features will work together. Our designers do this to identify any errors, but also to give the client an idea of what the app will ultimately look like and how it will work.
Without user research, there is a risk that the app’s design and/or features will not meet the end users’ needs. Through extensive user research, we can draw up better guidelines for the app’s design, leading to the best possible user experience.
During the design phase, we assess what is and isn’t possible in terms of design. Developers are involved at this stage to check whether they can actually implement the designs in the app. Once the basics are clear, a wireframe is created, covering aspects such as navigation and features. We then develop style mock-ups that set the visual direction, tailored to your brand and target audience. Finally, we create a final design that is both functional and beautiful.
The value of UX/UI design lies in the fact that it can determine whether a user enjoys using the app or deletes it after a short time. The first steps a user takes within the app are crucial, particularly for new users. UX and UI design go hand in hand to ensure this experience is as seamless and user-friendly as possible.
A well-thought-out UX design is essential for your app. After all, it determines how users experience your app’s features. UI design makes this appealing through visuals. Read more about app design here.
Many people wonder what exactly the difference is between hybrid, web and native apps. Here is a brief overview of the differences:
Beantwoord

A web app is an application that you use directly via a web browser, without having to download or install it. It combines the power of an app with the flexibility of a desktop and offers benefits such as a low barrier to entry and support for complex functionalities.
Find out more about web apps.
We develop apps for both hybrid and native platforms, including iOS, Android and web apps. This means we develop both native apps, which are specifically tailored to the device’s operating system, and web apps that run in a browser, regardless of the platform. We also offer hybrid apps, which allow you to reach both iOS and Android users with a single development effort. This gives you flexibility in your choice of technology, depending on your needs and budget.
We work using the Scrum-Agile methodology, a flexible and efficient approach that helps us develop your app step by step. We work on developing your app in fortnightly sprints, followed by a retrospective. During a sprint, we focus on pre-defined tasks and objectives, enabling us to deliver results quickly and iteratively. After each sprint, we schedule a retrospective in which we evaluate progress, gather feedback and discuss areas for improvement.
This process enables us to respond flexibly to your requirements and any new insights. In this way, we ensure that your app is not only technically excellent, but also fully aligned with your needs and the requirements of your target audience.

Every two weeks, we hold a retrospective where we discuss the status and current work together. This is your opportunity to provide us with feedback. This helps us keep our sights firmly set on the goal and work together towards an app that fully meets your requirements. Do you have any questions or comments in the meantime? You can always contact your designated project manager.

More information about our development process
One of the most frequently asked questions we receive as app developers is: ‘How long does it take to have an app built?’ The duration of the development process depends heavily on the complexity. What features should the first version of the app include, and what technology will be used to build it? Should the app be built specifically for iOS or Android, or would you prefer a web application? These factors determine the development process and how long it will take. On average, development takes anywhere from a few weeks to several months.

During the development of your app, you will be assigned a dedicated project manager. He or she will be your point of contact throughout the process. We use a Scrum-Agile methodology. This means we work in two-week sprints, followed by a retrospective. This allows us to reflect every two weeks and incorporate your feedback and input.
Coffee IT is the place to go if you want to hand over the maintenance of your app without any hassle. Read more about it here.
The costs of app management depend entirely on the type of app, its complexity and the required actions. For example, do we need to ensure that the app remains up and running and functions properly, or do we need to add entirely new features? When we enter into a maintenance contract with our client, we tailor this contract entirely to their needs, and there are several options available. For instance, you can opt for a fixed hourly rate on a monthly basis or a rate based on the additional functionalities.

An app concept is the initial rough idea for your app. During an Accelerator Day with the Concept Club, we’ll develop your concept into a roadmap with clear steps and objectives. This roadmap serves as a clear guide for the development of your app and ensures that the idea can be turned from concept into reality. This gives you an insight into the time, resources and priorities required to successfully bring your app to fruition.
As part of The Digital Club, we work closely with our Marketing Club. They are responsible for marketing your app, including app campaigns, App Store Advertising (ASA) and App Store Optimisation (ASO). Drawing on their expertise, they bring your app to the attention of the right target audience and ensure a successful launch. Would you like to find out more about what our Marketing Club can do for your app? Please get in touch.
The app idea is, of course, step 1. Step 2 is to develop your app idea into a roadmap with clear steps. We do this during an Accelerator Day with our Concept Club. They validate your idea and work out the strategy, so that you have a clear and concrete plan for the development of your app. Have your app idea validated and book an appointment with our Concept Club! Wondering what technology your app needs? You’ll get an idea within 5 minutes by completing our selection guide.
We develop mobile apps (iOS and Android) and web apps for every device and every sector. Our expertise lies in app solutions that contribute to quality of life. That is why we specialise in the following sectors:

The cost of developing your own app depends mainly on two factors: the complexity of the app and the technology used. Both have a significant impact on the number of development hours required. The number of features the app needs to include largely determines the cost. In other words: the fewer screens and features, the fewer development hours are required.

The cost of building an app ranges from a few thousand to several million euros. All our bespoke apps are built entirely from scratch and developed specifically for your organisation and/or target audience.
Coffee IT was founded in 2014 and has now been in business for 10 years. During that time, we have built more than 150 apps for various clients, including KLM, ROC and ExamenOverzicht. Take a look at all the apps we’ve created here.
We are an ISO 27001 and NEN 7510 certified company. But what do these certifications mean for us?
ISO 27001
This certification relates to information security. This ‘standard’ sets out requirements for establishing, implementing, monitoring, maintaining and improving data and security. By achieving this certification, we demonstrate that we manage our information processes effectively, secure data properly and treat the confidential information of both our staff and clients with the utmost care.
NEN-7510
The NEN-7510 certification is almost identical, but applies specifically to healthcare organisations and their suppliers. We are developing an increasing number of excellent healthcare apps that process patient data. That is why it was very important for us to obtain this certification as well. We are proud to have been awarded this certification. With this certification, we can create even more excellent healthcare apps!
