LemonCare
Connects healthcare professional and patient through advanced blockchain technology.
Case
Lemon makes electronic patient records immediately available to those who need the information. This way, the information is always up to date for the healthcare professional and patients can optimally receive the best care from home. The Lemon app ensures that both the efficiency and the quality of care are greatly improved. It connects the patient and healthcare professional with high-quality blockchain technology. Lemon was developed by Coffee IT in collaboration with Lemon Care and is its own startup.
Care app
The Lemon app is a so-called care app. This is a form of e-health where care can be provided remotely using an app. The use of technology to support or improve health and healthcare has increased significantly in recent years. Both patients and healthcare providers benefit from using such apps.
UMCG - LEMON CARE - TSN
Lemon Soda is part of the project Hospital at Home what is led by it UMCG. The Hospital at Home program requires that data sharing is real-time and secure, as different health organizations work together on the same treatment. Lemon facilitates this in a user-friendly manner, so that the needs of both the professional and the patient are met. The collaboration between UMCG has been very successful to date. Lemon Care works together with Thuiszorg Nederland.
The technology behind the app
The permissions within the Lemon network are managed by permissioned Parity Ethereum blockchain. This runs three Smart Contracts that enable patients and healthcare providers to manage permissions and retrieve data from affiliated healthcare organizations. Lemon uses the Healthcare Information Building Blocks (ZIB) standard. This ensures that other parties can also easily communicate with the system.
The design process
Lemon was created at a hackathon in 2018. The concept behind Lemon was praised as 'promising' and was funded by the UMCG. This has accelerated the concept. Multiple wireframes and designs were designed during development. The focus was on ease of use for both patient and healthcare provider. The wireframes and design have been extensively tested on home care professionals. They indicated that they wanted to see correlations between the data, which is why several graphs were incorporated into the app.
