The Range navigation app keeps more than 150,000 drivers informed about all speed cameras and traffic checks.
An app that informs drivers live about all traffic checks. With the app, users would be able to inform each other about police or traffic checks. Both for drivers of cars, scooters, and bicycles.
Coffee IT realized the design, the backend (API), and the complete native app. Thanks to the easy-to-use interface, users can report notifications and speed cameras themselves within no time.
Range makes it possible to avoid traffic checks. Users can report notifications and speed cameras themselves in a split second. To make this possible, we have built in a solid API. This applies to motorists as well as travelers on a scooter, bicycle, public transport, and even pedestrians. The app therefore has a large group of active users.
To make the success of Range possible and to let the app perform excellently, the app has been built scalably. In addition, the UX has been specially designed so that it feels friendly and intuitive for users.
Achter elk succesvol platform schuilt een doordacht proces. Hieronder lichten we het technische fundament, de doorlooptijd en onze belangrijkste inzichten toe, inclusief het uiteindelijke resultaat van dit project.
- Ontwikkeling van een mobiele app met een nieuwe huisstijl.
- Real time meldingsysteem voor controles en flitsers.
- Geofencing om meldingen op de juiste afstand zichtbaar te maken.
- Richtingsdetectie zodat meldingen alleen relevant zijn voor verkeer in dezelfde richting.
- Voting systeem waarmee gebruikers meldingen kunnen bevestigen of ontkrachten.
- Filtering van gebruikers die structureel onjuiste meldingen plaatsen.
- Een mobiel CMS waarmee Range zelf meldingen en content kan beheren.
Het project duurde 5 maanden.
Een belangrijke learning uit dit project is dat community data alleen waardevol is wanneer deze goed gefilterd en gevalideerd wordt. Zonder moderatie of verificatie kan user generated content snel onbetrouwbaar worden.
Daarnaast leerden we dat geofencing nauwkeurig moet worden afgestemd op verkeerssituaties. En dat richtingsdetectie essentieel is om meldingen relevant te houden.
Verder helpen voting systemen om community data te valideren. En ten slotte is backend schaalbaarheid cruciaal bij real time meldingsplatformen.
De Range app is uiteindelijk meer dan 100.000 keer gedownload, waarmee de oorspronkelijke droom van de community werkelijkheid werd. Gebruikers kregen een overzichtelijke en snelle manier om controles te zien en te melden, zonder door lange Facebook discussies te hoeven zoeken. Het platform maakte het mogelijk om real time informatie te delen en te verifiëren via het voting systeem.
