Our Android developers and UX & UI app designers are delighted. The reason? Android Studio 4.0 has been released by the Google team. This update makes it much easier for our Android programmers to add animations and transitions to our apps. In concrete terms, this ensures that the apps look more refined and the development process becomes slightly more efficient.

Improvements of Android Studio 4.0 compared to older version

Previously, animations and transitions were added via XML. The disadvantage of this was that both developing and testing it took a lot of time. Now there is a timeline with keyframes (a bit similar to After Effects) which makes editing clearer and a lot more intuitive.

In addition, you can now see a real-time preview of how the animation will look in the app. As a result, you no longer have to build the app, which significantly saves time for both implementation and testing. This has a positive effect on the cooperation between the developer and the designer because they can switch much faster.

Then perhaps our biggest advantage: in Android Studio 4.0 it is now a lot easier to add animations based on interaction, for example scrolling, without having to write logic code. See the animation below for an example of this.
