SMART BUILDING MANAGEMENT WITH IOT

Manage all functionalities in a building. Turn the lights on/off, regulate the temperature of the room or lower the shutters. Together with JNV Coffee IT developed a web and native iOS app under the name Darwin®, a building automation dashboard that provides total control and a simple overview of the building. Darwin is used in offices of Vanderlande, The Flow Amsterdam and Tesla DC Tilburg, among others

DARWIN WEB APP: THE CHALLENGE

The Darwin application provides insight into the building. Things such as consumption, service needs, and the status of systems are clearly displayed on the Darwin dashboard. This was mainly about integrating all these systems and displaying them in one way website- as native app where user-friendliness is optimal. Darwin integrates and links with other systems in the building that manage certain functionalities, so that the app can always read and adjust the information in real time.

INTERNET OF THINGS

Darwin® needs a lot of information to be useful to users, the system receives this information from hundreds of devices connected to the IoT. Darwin® is the advanced link between the IoT and the users, without IoT many building automation functionalities would not be possible.

Real time status

In order to show the most current status per room, the app must know where the user is in the building. To achieve this, the app uses beacon technology.

Always within reach

The IoT app gives users an overview of the situation in each room in each room. Temperature, how many people can fit in the room or what equipment is available.

WEB AND NATIVE IOS APP

The Darwin app must be accessible everywhere. To achieve this, both a web app and a native iOS app have been developed. The web app ensures that every user can use the system via their computer without the need for installation. The native iOS app makes it possible for users to consult and change the real-time information of the system at any time via a smartphone. The smartphone app makes contact with the physical Ibeacons in the room. The moment the user places his or her smartphone on the table in the room; direct access to the app is granted.
