With the launch of iOS 14.5, Apple has also increased its promotional options in its own App Store. In addition to the Search Ads is it now also possible to create an app promote in the search tab with the Book Search Tab campaigns. How does this work? Read more about it below ??.

APPLE SEARCH TAB ADS, HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Apple App Store is next to the Google Play Store the largest marketplace for mobile applications. Don't be alarmed: there are more than 1.82 million apps in the App Store online! Naturally, this makes it increasingly difficult to get through all the offers. Of course, Apple had an immediate solution for this: paid advertisements. A good move, because this brings no less than 1 billion dollars a year into the American giant's pocket.

Previously it was only possible to advertise on certain Keyword. If you search for 'books', you will see an advertisement from Storytel. If you search for 'racing', you will see an advertisement from F1 Manager. With the launch of iOS 14.5, the App Store has received a small but significant change. In the 'search' tab of the App Store app it is now possible to advertise in the 'Recommended' list. As Apple describes it nicely: the Search Tab Ads give the opportunity to reach potential customers before they search.

In the example on the right, you can see that the top app in the recommended list is now highlighted. This is based on the data that Apple collects on your device. Think of demographic data such as gender and age, but also your search history within the App Store. Now you probably think: “But Apple is so busy with the privacy of its users”. The new Search Tab Ads therefore make it possible to reach potential users in a different way. Apple itself claims that millions of people search for apps here every day, so your ad will get a new prominent ad spot.

HOW TO CREATE AN APPLE SEARCH TAB AD?

You can now choose a 'Search Tab Campaign' in your personal Search Ad account. However, it is not possible to share assets such as photos and/or videos with the Search Tab ads. The ad only shows your app icon, the title and your subtitle.

With these new ads you can reach millions of people per day. Apple knows better than anyone the value of its Apple Store and with this expansion offers app developers a great way to reach potential customers. SEARCH ADS RESULTS: HOW DOES IT WORK?

The new Search Tab Ads do not (yet) work per click or result. Keep this in mind before using this new form of ads. These ads work per CPM (cost per mile or cost per 1000 views).
